Stereogram
What is Stereogram ?
The term "Stereogram" originates from two Greek words. "Stereo" means "solid" and refers to a system that provides a realistic experience. We often associate it with sound systems that create the sensation of sounds coming from various directions, such as left and right.
On the other hand, "Gram" means "something written" or "what is written" in Greek. This root is commonly found in modern words like Telegram, Diagram, and Instagram.
Therefore, a Stereogram is a form of written or visual representation that appears to be "solid" or "real" in a three-dimensional (3D) sense. More specifically, an Auto-Stereogram is a type of Stereogram where the observer can perceive a 3D image with their naked eye, without the need for any additional equipment.
The process of perceiving a two-dimensional (2D) image as a three-dimensional (3D) image is referred to as Stereopsis. It occurs when each eye views the same scene or object from a slightly different angle, mimicking how we perceive objects in the physical world. In the case of an Auto-Stereogram, this effect is achieved by focusing on a distant point while allowing the image to repeat and converge in two different patterns.

How to reveal
Try lifting up your finger close to your nose while reading this.
As you can notice there are 2 fingers with quite transparency that you see.
Now move your focus to your finger , It becomes one (and the background becomes multiplied). If it's too close for you to focus move a little farther.
Do this exercise couple of times and you'll be ready for the next step.
Now put your face in front of a Stereogram image. In order to reveal the hidden 3D image you need to see "through the screen" and focus on a farther point, just as you gaze and lose focus when you Day Dream.
Now try to move back & forth with your focus until you catch it. Once you're in the right focus position it will jump out !

A known technic to lose focus is by bringing your face very close to the image , even touch your nose, and than, slowly take it farther until you catch the exact position.
Remember, if your focus snaps back to the image you need to lose it again.
Another good technic is to focus on your reflection or even better, a reflection of a light bulb. By doing so you actually focus on a farther object.
Be patient, it takes some time to reveal for the first time.
You'll need to learn to lose your focus and adjust the focusing point.
* Revealing on Smartphone is quite difficult for begginers. First try to reveal on a PC screen.
** In some rare cases, it's not possible to see .It is estimated that 1-5% cannot "trick their mind" and see 2D as a 3D image hidden in the stereogram.
